Hello Zach,

Thanks for the help.  It looks like the doc I'm trying to attach has a
resource fork, but if I create a new Word doc from scratch, it doesn't. 
I'll try to find out why some have resource forks and some don't...

By the way, my setup is nearly the same as yours:
PowerMail 4.2
OS X 10.2.6
Powerbook G4/550
