I'm a new PowerMail user, but I've imported my Emailer database which
I've been using since 1997. My biggest folder is typically my Sent Mail
folder, since I save pretty much everything I ever send. What I've done
is set up an 'archive' within the PowerMail database. I have a folder
called 'Email Archives' and within that folder I have subfolders that
each hold two months worth of email, typically between 500 and 1000
messages. The folders are named by their date range so they appear in
order (for instance, email from January/February 2003 is in a folder
named 2003_01_02). I create and populate these manually, by selecting
messages from Sent Mail and dragging them to their archive folder. I
typically keep between 4 and 8 months worth of email in Sent Mail, and
move stuff to the archive folders 3 or 4 times a year. It can sometimes
be a hassle finding old stuff if I don't know precisely when it was sent,
but PM lets me search in selected folders, so it's not too bad.

hth
