When I encountered this problem I basically just gave up AAB syncing. My
PM address DB haven't been made whole since. To be fair I think the
problem is Apples, not CTM's. Choosing how to implement Address book
support is CTM's, however. If it could have been done in a more useful
fashion I can't tell. I have yet to find a way to use AAB syncing that
doesn't come with side-effects like the one you describe.
The approaches I can imagine now, for you Dave, are:
? Revert to backup of your PM DB
? Start all over again in the PM DB, using messages as starting points
for adding addresses (my current choice)
? Export AAB or the PM DB to a format that can be modified inside a text
editor and then imported to PM, like LDIF (perhaps the best choice)
? See if it's feasible to use a script to parse your addresses inside PM
and get rid of them there.
After this initial fixing I'm not sure what would be the best way to
sync to AAB. But two-way syncing seems to produce many unintended side-
effects.
Anyone know of another app that syncs to Apple Address Book without
getting these unnecessary details? Anyone know of a better address
application that interfaces or syncs easily with Apple Address Book?
After all, to have one address DB is a good idea.
Anyone know of how to use the Apple Address Book and having useful
templates that actually works properly? I don't. Anyone know of a
mailing list concerning Apple Address Book? I would like to use AAB as
the one stop place for my addresses, but I really think it stinks since
its conception. A very UnMac app if you ask me.
