mine works fine:
incoming: pop.gmail.com
secure connection port 995
dedicated secure port
smtp: smtp.gmail.com
authenticate as user
secure connection, port 587
starttls command
BTW, I have no idea where those port numbers came from, I set this up so
long ago.
