An evasion probably could be to install an additional user (and the PM there
too, of course) to store the switched database in the folder "PowerMail Files"
and to open it only there?

Hi Jeremy,
But doesn't the "work around" you suggest negate the ability to use spotlight
quickly and efficiently to find archived mail within the user account I am
using now?
I vote for my suggestions which make sense from a User Iterface perspective.
After all a database file has a name. Why shouldn't the user be able to see
that in the program. Also if you switch databses often having the files appear
as a recent files enu item list would be so convenient. It might require a bit
of user awareness, but at least these suggestions help solve the troubles
created when you forget to switch back to the current correct database after
reviewing an archived e-mail from an archived database.
I have sent this "idea" to the developer years ago, and I am not holding my
breath, but I sure would like to see some forward motion on PowerMail. I still
want it to be my e-mail program, even though all the forces that power us want
html mail to supplant text e-mail.
I'm guessing there must not be many users trying to keep things organized as I
do ;-)
Thanks, and so long for now, TOM

That was Rene's suggestion - I wouldn't personally want to do this.
Making it easier to swap between databases (like your Recent Database
suggestion) would be an improvement.
Other improvements might be:
1. The ability to have several databases open at the same time
2. An option to lock archive databases (so they don't get used for new mail)
3. The ability to search through more than one database from within PowerMail.

Hi Jeremy,
You are so creative. I applaud all of these, and welcome an of them!
Thanks, and so long for now, TOM
