Cooper Nuclear Station uses the following guidance for circle/slash.

The preferred place-keeping method is a four step process:
           Circle the step number to be performed.
           Read and understand the step in its entirety.
           Perform the step as written.
           Mark the step as completed by placing a slash through the circled 
step number.
