Watts Bar is addressing this IER.
IER L2 11-1 - Inadequate Collective Radiation Exposure Performance Improvements Summary During the past five years, the trend for reducing collective radiation exposure (CRE) has not been acceptable. Several units remain well over the current industry CRE goal and have not made significant progress toward reducing collective dose. The boiling water reactors as a group did not meet the 2010 CRE annualized cycle dose goal of less than120 person-rem. Two major causes of high collective dose were elevated radioactive source terms and shortfalls in outage dose reduction planning and work execution. Weaknesses in organizational support and prioritization of initiatives were the underlying contributors to the problems. Actions * Self-assessments are to be completed within 150 days of the issue date of this document. * INPO is to be informed of the self-assessment report and action plans within 210 days of the issue date of this document. This announcement was sent to Site Vice Presidents; it was also sent to Plant Managers, Administrative Points of Contact, INPO Coordinators, Operating Experience Coordinators, Performance Improvement and Corrective Action Contacts, Nuclear Network Coordinators, and Analysis Review Board. If you have questions or inquiries, please contact Amanda Donges, section manager, Events Analysis at (770) 644-8175, [email protected]. Although this is mainly directed at BWRs as PWRs we must show want we have done to make the expectation. Radiologically significant outages in recent years has been and Steam Generator Replacement. Watts Bars wants to know: Watts Bar is looking for stations that have performed Steam Generator Replacements in recent years and for what dose they completed the project with? Watts Bar replaced generators in 2006 for 306.337 Man Rem with 436,639 Man Rem.
