Palo Verde provides the following response: Palo Verde does not require in coming workers to submit urine samples as part of the in/out-processing. In-vitro sampling would only be required as a possible action after an intake event involving alpha.

However, this is standard practice at DOE and FUSRAP sites. At this time, we would require invitro sampling only if we suspected an uptake. There is a suggestion on the table that we establish a reference baseline, especially for workers who intend to work in Alpha Level 3 areas. The proposal goes like this...if we have work planned in an Alpha Level 3 area, we obtain urine samples prior to the job. If the job doesn't go so well and the worker in the Alpha Level 3 area has a suspected intake, we would send the before and after samples out for analysis. If the job goes well and there is no suspected intake, we dump the baseline sample. What is the policy at your site? I'm especially interested in hearing from Bruce (SEN 286) and Oconee (OE31303/32020). Thanks, Bryan Bryan S. Pell R.E.
