We have a standardize procedure that evaluates the exposure received
performing the work with and without a respirator. Contamination, type
of work, re-suspension factors and work area dose rates are factors
calculated to determine to received dose.

We do not have a threshold - it merely calculates which way the worker
will receive the dose.

Subject: Powernet: significant dose difference

I was wondering if any facilities have a set dose limit to identify the
term significant when it deals with TEDE-ALARA. In other words, do you
have a dose limit difference that you use to establish when respiratory
protection equipment or engineering controls are required. (i.e. 10
mrem) If an individual would receive 10 mrem more not wearing a
respirator, than wearing a respirator do you require them to wear a
respirator?

Thanks for your input.
