1) Yes. No RCA entries when they can't pass exit monitors unless critical
skills individual. Then body count in and out, unless they are too "hot" for
the body counters. Then no RCA entries. Also, Diablo Canyon is in a fairly
small area. I have communicated with the local cardiology centers about the
problems associated with Tl-201. I have gotten good cooperation and it has
reduced the number of Tl-201 folks we have to deal with.

2) Ask them not to wear it. In some cases, it is collected and processed.

3) Not for Tc-99 or Tl-201

4) N/A for Tc-99 and Tl-201

5) I-123 no problem. I-131 is handled on a case by case basis. We restrict
proximity to others, ask them to use special restroom, etc....We haven't had
one for 4-5 years.

6) We have very broad statement in procedure. Basically, it says tell RP if
you are having nuclear medicine procedure.

7) None. I would like to see what others have to share, as well.

Thanks,

Linda

Subject: Powernet: Radionuclide Medical Treatments

HNP is performing an informal benchmark on Radiation Protection limitations
that are put on individuals that have received radionuclide medical treatments.
HNP has in an admin procedure "Notifying Radiation Protection of the following:
As soon as practical, but prior to, any medical administration of
radiopharmaceuticals or radioactive implants." We also have a procedure for
monitoring individuals during Medical Radionuclide Procedures after we know
they have received a medical radionuclide.

1. Do you place any restrictions on individuals with radionuclide medical
treatments such as Technetium-99 or Thallium-201 from entering Protected Area
and/or RCA?

2. Do you remove an individual's TLD?

3. If allowed in Protected Area, do you restrict their work area
locations or proximity to other personnel?

4. If allowed in Protected Area, what dose rate is allowed?

5. How do you handle individuals that get radioactive iodine?

6. Are limitations, restrictions etc. written as guidelines, policy or
procedure?

7. If you have guidelines, policies or procedures will you share?
