1. We permit access to the Protected Area after the worker is briefed and
provided with a letter that permits them to bypass the Protected Area exit
monitors. We don't permit access to any RCA until the worker can clear
the whole body contamination monitors.

2. Yes, we take the worker's TLD.

3. No, no additional Protected Area restrictions for typical Tc & Tl
administrations.

4. We don't specify any dose rate. We do consider the rad monitors that
are outside of the RCA - OE15830.

5. Iodine is handled on a case basis. We've had the worker stay home for
the first few days during which iodine excretion can cause issues and dose
rate can be high. Any potential dose rate issue would be handled on a
case basis.

6. Our current procedure provides instructions for retaining the TLD,
establishing access restrictions, monitoring the worker and removing
restrictions.

7. We would share the procedure - it's pretty much the above information
with more detail.

Subject: Powernet: Radionuclide Medical Treatments
Sent by: [email protected]

HNP is performing an informal benchmark on Radiation Protection
limitations that are put on individuals that have received radionuclide
medical treatments. HNP has in an admin procedure ?Notifying Radiation
Protection of the following: As soon as practical, but prior to, any
medical administration of radiopharmaceuticals or radioactive implants.?
We also have a procedure for monitoring individuals during Medical
Radionuclide Procedures after we know they have received a medical
radionuclide.

1. Do you place any restrictions on individuals with radionuclide
medical treatments such as Technetium-99 or Thallium-201 from entering
Protected Area and/or RCA?

2. Do you remove an individual?s TLD?

3. If allowed in Protected Area, do you restrict their work area
locations or proximity to other personnel?

4. If allowed in Protected Area, what dose rate is allowed?

5. How do you handle individuals that get radioactive iodine?

6. Are limitations, restrictions etc. written as guidelines, policy
or procedure?

7. If you have guidelines, policies or procedures will you share?
