What is your site’s criteria for relocating Dosimetry? DC Cook Criteria: Known work area dose rate gradients make it likely that total dose to a portion of the whole body will exceed the chest dose (normal dosimetry position) by more than 50% AND Dose rates in the general work area exceed 10 mrem/hour at 30 cm. OR The difference in the total dose would vary by at least 30 mrem for the individual during a work shift or would vary by at least 100 mrem of collective missed dose for the entire job.
Who determines that Dosimetry relocation is required? IF repositioning was prescribed in the applicable RWP, Worker should relocate his/her own dosimetry, peer checked by the job coverage techinician or RP Supervisor and documented on the associated job coverage survey (or log sheet). If not prescribed, notify RP Supervision. What is your site’s criteria for using Multibadging (EDEX)? DC Cook Criteria: The whole body lcoation that will receive the highest dose (deep or shallow) is generally not known, based on past experiences for similar work or measurements. AND Measured or anticipated work area dose rate gradients make it likely for dose to one or more portions of the whole body to exceed that of the chest by more than 50 percent. AND Measured dose rates in teh work area exceed 10 mrem/hour at 30 cm and these dose gradients are unknown or are expected to vary based upon system operation. AND The difference in total dose if using multiple dosimetry instead of normal assigned dosimetry would vary by at least 30 mrem for the individual during a work shift or 100 mmrem of collective missed dose for the entire job. Who is allowed to determine that multibadging is needed? IF the need for multiple dosimetry is identified in the job planning process, THEN specify use of multiple dosimetry in the appropriate section of the applicable RWP. IF the need for multiple dosimetry is identified during job coverage AND is different from directions contained in the RWP, THEN contact RP Supervision for direction. Document the issue on a job coverage survey (log sheet), or as directed by RP Supervision. STOP. THINK before you CLICK links or OPEN attachments. Just a couple quick questions on dosimetry relocation and multi-badging. I included the Ginna information for your reference, how do we compare? What is your site’s criteria for relocating Dosimetry? Ginna Criteria: Known work area dose rate gradients make it likely that a portion of the whole body will exceed the chest dose by more than 50% AND The DDE potentially missed by NOT moving dosimetry for one work shift (based on 8 hours) could exceed 30 mrem. OR The jobs collective DDE potentially missed by NOT moving dosimetry could exceed 250 mrem. Who determines that Dosimetry relocation is required? Ginna allows an RP Technician in the field to relocate dosimetry with Supervisor concurrence. What is your site’s criteria for using Multibadging (EDEX)? Ginna Criteria: Dose rates in work area exceed100 mrem/hr. AND The DDE is likely to exceed 300 mrem during the job. OR Measured or anticipated work area dose rate gradients make it possible for dose to one or more portions of whole-body to exceed that of the chest by more than 50 percent. Who is allowed to determine that multibadging is needed? Ginna requires uses of EDEX to be specified by ALARA on the RWP Stephen Holmes Sr. Plant Health Physicist CENG – RE Ginna This e-mail and any attachments are confidential, may contain legal, professional or other privileged information, and are intended solely for the addressee.
