At Duke Energy...

Our previous process (for OJT Trainer and TPE Evaluators) required...

* Must get qualified to be a Trainer (OJT) and/or Evaluator (TPE)

* Must then be designated to OJT and/or TPE for a specific RP Task (as
designated by RP management)

* Must be qualified to the task (there were some exceptions to this).

BUT... our most recent procedure changes (as part of our new merged company)
has changed this...

* eliminated the requirements for designating a given Trainer and/or
Evaluator to only OJT/TPE assigned (designated) tasks

* Now, to conduct OJT you must be qualified as an OJT trainer and be
qualified to the task you want to train on. Same for TPE.

At Davis-Besse, we have one list of qualified OJT/TPE personnel, both RP
Technicians and Decon staff. Individuals approved to perform OJT are not
necessarily approved to perform TPE, to help maintain proficiency and quality.
They are approved for all tasks but some are more preferential than others,
instrumentation for example.

Subject: [powernet] OJT / TPE process for RP Techs

V. C. Summer would appreciate your response to the following questions
regarding OJT / TPE for qualifying RP Techs.

* Are you required to maintain an approved list of individuals who are
qualified to provide OJT on specific RP tasks?

* Are you required to maintain an approved list of individuals who are
qualified to provide TPE on specific RP tasks?

* If you don't maintain an authorized list for OJT/TPE, how is the
process controlled?

At VCS, the RPM is responsible for maintenance and approval of these lists. We
maintain both. The lists are broken down by the specific tasks requiring
OJT/TPE for each functional area (i.e., dosimetry, count room, radwaste, etc.).

Thanks in advance for your response,

Diana Perez
