Here at Los Alamos National Lab we use the following standard setup of our AMS-4s and have the latitude to change the settings for specific radionuclides.
Slow Alarm Interval at 10 minutes Slow Alarm Setpoint at 5.00E-9 uCi/cc Fast Alarm Interval at 60 seconds Fast Alarm Setpoint at 7.00E-8 uCi/cc Net Alarm Interval at 60 seconds Net Alarm Setpoint at 6.00E+4 CPM Stack Alarm Setpoint is not used DAC-Hour Alarm Setpoint at 8 DAC-Hours (DAC-Hours are an accumulated value from the Slow Alarm Intervals) We use the DAC concentration values from 10CFR835 which are similar in value to the 10CFR20 values. Our typical DAC factors range from 3E-7 to 7E-9 uCi/cc. I have a pdf of the Eberline AMS-4 Instrument Manual posted on my website if anyone needs a copy. (WWW.VOSS-ASSOCIATES.COM) Our major and most common concern is for the alpha emitters and we typically set our Alpha CAMs to the 8 DAC-hour value.
