>From Beaver Valley -

  1. Aligned with our personnel monitoring periods, which are roughly 3-4
months depending on outage schedules (we are a two unit site).
  2. We use LiF TLDs for onsite area monitoring. These are NOT REMP area TLDs
– just to clarify.
  3. We have increased over the years, mostly due to the beginning of dry cask
storage.

Subject: [EXTERNAL] [Powernet] Quick Hit Benchmark – Area TLD/OSL Monitoring

Questions from Duke Energy on Area TLD/OSL Monitoring:

  1. At what frequency do you perform Area TLD/OSL monitor changeouts at your
facility? (e.g., quarterly)

  1. What type of device do you use for area monitoring? Please be specific
(e.g., LiF (Cu, Mg), OSL, etc.)

  1. Has the number of your area monitoring locations increased or decreased?
Duke Energy answers: 1. quarterly; 2. TLD - LiF, (Mg, Ti); 3. increased.
Thanks in advance. Any input greatly appreciated! I will share results with
anyone interested.
Sincerely,
Patrick J. LaFrate, CHP
