1. We calibrate & maintain the whole body counters (Canberra/Mirion Fastscan and AccuScan II) in house. We've kept the calibration of all our spectrometers within the RP group and have been able to maintain the expertise to do so. Assuming that you have individuals with the interest, background and training, it can be significantly less expensive than contracting it out.
2. Can send our calibration procedure if desired. 3. No cross-check failures. I should mention that if any of you out there are considering doing the work in-house, I highly recommend some vendor-provided training. We use the Apex InVivo system and, while relatively easy to use, does have its quirks. Attempting to configure & manage a system without any training (or serious mentoring) could be a frustrating experience.
