I have considered using a LAM - Long article monitor (how is that for an acronym)... Which is one or more 2 door SAM's end to end. It would take some doing, but it seems like you could run them independently and just hit all the "go" buttons and seeing if there is anything above the limits you determine. This is a lot easier and uses the available infrastructure rather than making a shielded compartment.

The extinguisher does not fit in our usual HPGe setup, so we have run some preliminary scans of an extinguisher on a WBC using NaI detection. Obviously the Potassium-40 peaked as the known contaminant and various unknown peaks populated as well (possible scatter). Does anyone have experience to share or suggestions on releasing extinguishers or other objects that do not fit in a HPGe?
