Hi people! It's been a long time since I've seen any discussion of the Solaris PPC port - is it as dead as it was sounding? Well, I wanted to be sure everyone is aware of the Power Station now available through Fixstars. That company bought Yellow Dog, and so they offer a system now that is essentially an upgraded G5 tower (quad 2.5 Ghz G5) with awesome expandability. It's the perfect target for a Solaris PPC port, just as the PS3 remains a decent target. And this system is "open," according to their site.
I figure it's a great excuse to revive the port and the perfect target to aim for. Thoughts? Does it depend on getting them to fund the effort, supply a machine or two for development? -Eric Wood
