Mungkin masalah utamanya ialah kapasitas penyulingan minyak di Indonesia tidak dapat memenuhi kebutuhan konsumsi dalam negeri. Kalau diobservasi angka-angka statistik impor BBM pasti akan ditemukan bahwa trend naik. Mengapa demikian? Apakah betul BBM diselundupkan dan kemudian diimpor lagi dari Singapura ataukah justeru politik ekonomi Indonesia tidak mementinkan perkembangan dan pertumbuhan industri dalam negeri? Pertumbuhan dan perkembangan Industri harus diimbangi dengan politik perkembangan pendidikan untuk melayani kebutuhan pertumbuhan dan perkembangan yang dimaksudkan. Di Singapura terrdapat industri penyulingan minyak yang terbesar di Asia Tenggara. Apakah alasan minyak diselundupkan ke Singapura kemudian Indonesia mengimpor minyak yang diselundupkan itu sebelum dimasukan kembali ke Indonesia mesti ditampung? Apakah ada tempat pemapungannya? Ataukah minyak itu sengaja diangkut dari penylingan di Indonesia, kemudian kapalnya berlayar sebentar dan balik masuk pelabuhan Indoensia, ataukah hanya kongkalikong di atau antara perusahan-perushaan yang berkecimpun dengan BBM? Tentu masih ada lagi banyak pertanyaan, tetapi cukup sekadar demikian sebagai bahan pemikiran soal-soal duniawi yang kita hadapi dan tak tergantung dari pengertian surgawi masing-masing yang hangat dipersoalkan kebenarannya.
