London, Indonesia-Relief - Three months after tsunami, after surveying
just 8 out of 654 villages affected by tsunami in Aceh, Oxfam jump to
conclusion: females death outnumbers males. What's the result of Oxfam survey
six months after tsunami? Rich people received greater support than the poor
and needy. How many villages surveyed by Oxfam?

The new Oxfam survey result, Targeting Poor People, had been reported by
the De Havilland of UK on Saturday. Oxfam concluded that landowners and
businesses are being given priority over the tsunami aid at the expense of
impoverished, marginalized communities.

In India, the dalits, or outcasts, have received little help, and the
wealthier classes in Sri Lanka and Aceh in Indonesia have received far greater
support than the poor and needy.

Oxfam recommended that the funding should be spread more evenly across
those who need it, in the wake of the last December tsunami.

Barbara Stocking, from Oxfam, said: ''The tsunami has hit poor people
hardest and has left them with the biggest problems. However the generous
response of the public has put us in a strong position to address these
problems. We must use this as an opportunity to help people work their way out
of poverty and to ensure they are better placed to deal with natural disasters
if and when they strike again.''

An Oxfam spokesman working in Indonesia's Aceh province, Kim Tan, told
ABC Australia that the poor also spend more time in refugee camps. ''There's
been huge progress made since the initial disaster happened on last December,
but we're very concerned that the tens of thousands of people who remain in
government camps and relocation centres and temporary camps with no land and
who have not got the resources to buy new land and to buy new homes, get left
behind in this recovery and reconstruction process,'' he said.

So, how many villages had been surveyed by Oxfam? No info.

Who distribute the aid to the riches? No data.

What Oxfam going to do about it?

Oxfam has allocated £137 million over the next five years, for groups
which have thus far been relatively ignored. © che
