107 Sri Lankans moved to Gowa MAKASSAR, South Sulawesi: One-hundred-and-seven Sri Lankan asylum-seekers have been transferred to a detention facility in South Sulawesi from Jakarta. Officials said they were moved because the detention center in Jakarta was overcrowded. Justice and Human Rights Minister Hamid Awaluddin said Saturday that the Sri Lankans were arrested two weeks ago in Puncak resort area in Bogor, West Java, for carrying fake immigration documents. "They did have passports and visas, but after we cross-checked with our embassy in Sri Lanka, we found the embassy did not issue them," Hamid said. Speaking during his visit to the Bollangi detention center for immigration offenders in Gowa, Hamid said it was not clear why the group was using fake documents. "We're still investigating the case," he said. He said the Sri Lankans would not be deported but asked to leave the country. -- JP [Non-text portions of this message have been removed] *************************************************************************** Berdikusi dg Santun & Elegan, dg Semangat Persahabatan.
