*Iran, Pakistan to finalize peace pipeline contract by Oct 20* Officials of Iran and Pakistan would finalize the peace pipeline gas contract next Friday or Saturday, said a senior Iranian oil Ministry official Saturday. Oil minister's envoy for peace pipeline talks, Hojattollah Ghanimifard was quoted by PIN as saying that the two sides would discuss technical issues within next Thursday. He added the two states' presidents were to set a date for the signing of the contract. Ghanimifard, also the National Iranian Oil Company's (NIOC) International Affairs Department head, said India had not offered new information about its presence in the project, but the Indian media's views showed that the country would resume talks with Pakistan on transit fee next month. Pakistan's Petroleum Secretary Farrakh Qayyum told PIN that his country was making effort to encourage India to return to the peace pipeline project. "We have called on India to attend the talks on peace pipeline," said the official, adding India had announced that some problems should be settled, expressing hope to rejoin the project.
