Facebooker Angers Indonesian Islamic Leaders with Prophet Claim

A Facebook user has drawn the wrath of the Indonesian Council of Ulema after
claiming in an online posting that he is the 26th prophet.

The user, Sakti A Sihite, said that he announced his prophethood on Sept. 13,
2007, after he received the call through a holy spirit who came to him in a
dream. The event, he said, was the peak of various mystical experiences he had
been having since 2005.

On his Facebook group page, Sakti claimed that the purpose of his prophethood
was to deliver God's word and ask humans to worship God.

Even though Islam teaches that Muhammad was the last prophet, Sakti claims
there are verses in the Koran that indicate there will be a 26th prophet.

On his Facebook page, he listed his address as being in Jakarta and provided a
telephone number.

However, when the Jakarta Globe attempted to contact Sakti, it only got an
answering machine message.

Sakti's page had attracted 117 fans as of Monday evening and there were 34
links on his wall to religious articles, which he had written himself, mostly
focusing on arguments to support his claim of being a prophet.

Two people had left comments for Sakti on the page. Bara AS wrote: "There is no
prophet or messenger after Muham mad SAW."

Another user, Cahaya G, wrote: "May you return to God's way and learn about
Islam from the scholars."

Amidhan, the chairman of the Indonesian Council of Ulema (MUI), said Sakti had
committed a public lie and legal proceedings were called for.
