Russian edition of Fidel's Reflections
HAVANA, November 23.- The book Fidel Castro: the Aggressive States of
North America, a selection of Reflections by the leader of the Cuban
Revolution, is to be published in Russia next month. Fidel's Reflections have
been published since March, 2007 on the CubaDebate website and in Granma daily.
CubaDebate reported that the book will contain 106 reflections in the
Russian language, an introductory note to the public, and photos provided by
the Publications Office of the Council of State of the Republic of Cuba. It is
422 pages long.
There are currently three private Russian publishing companies that have
published books based on Commander in Chief Fidel Castro's political thinking
over the course of the year.
One of them is Ripol Klassik, with the book Fidel Castro: My Life or
Biography in Two Voices, by Ignacio Ramonet which, for five weeks in late 2008,
was the top selling book in Russia.
Alpina Non-Fiction followed suit with Reflections of the Commander in
Chief, another successful book which enjoyed great demand in the Russian
political and academic world.
In the opinion of its editors, this new edition corresponds to the
growing interest in Russia for left-wing thinking in Latin America and its most
contemporary reference: the Cuban Revolution and its historic leader Fidel
Castro.
Serguey Vasilievich Nikolaev, director of the Algoritmo publishing
company, expressed his desire to continue publishing Cuban authors working in
the political, historic, or philosophical essay genres, in line with the
profile of that Russian publishers. (AIN)
