@maedhroz , I addressed the nits from review and the check only for full index builds. The latter led to - SecondaryIndexManager#markIndexFailed should make the index non-queryable with Index.Status.BUILD_FAILED reason. I also rebased the branch. https://github.com/apache/cassandra/pull/3955#discussion_r2014136069 - I believe this is the only last question.
