Neat, that will be quite a big accomplishment for Prime95.

Out of curiosity, I Google searched zettaflop and it returned only 104 results. Unfortunately, many of the results were about how [EMAIL PROTECTED] passed the zettaflop mark back on September 26, 2001. Looks like we still have a ways to go :(. SETI appears to currently be at 5.3 zettaflops.

PS: Spike: I thought the way you signed your name looked familiar, so I double checked and sure enough, you are also on the Extropy mailing list :).

Did anyone notice we are coming up on a new prefix? GIMPS has performed over 800 quintillion floating point operations in the seven years of its existence, 800 exaflop.

I calculate that in about four months, we will
have collectively performed a sextillion floating
point operations, allowing me to legitimately
use a prefix I have never actually seen in use,
even to describe the absurdly large quantities
often associated with computing. GIMPS will soon
complete the first zettaflop.
