Andrew, When [EMAIL PROTECTED] was first proposed, it was deluged with so many
volunteers that it was overwhelmed. It immediately used up all
the test segments it had. The directors had a dilemma, for they
feared if they told everyone to stand down a few weeks for new
data to search, that they would lose interest or go on to other
parallel computing projects. Their solution was to hand out the
same work segments over and over. I saw a posting (on extropians btw)
that this was being done, so I looked over my completed [EMAIL PROTECTED]
segments and found two duplications out of 15. So no more
[EMAIL PROTECTED] since that day. I want every CPU cycle doing something,
even if it is silly.

Ja in addition to being a math geek and a SETI fan, I have
been in extropians for about 8 years. Sasha and I organized
the extropians GIMPS team. We ran neck and neck with Mensa
for months, then Mensa eventually pulled ahead of us, and
soon after that Sasha passed away, which rather broke our
team spirit. I haven't even checked the rankings since then.
