[Prime] Priority

I've been running Prime95 for years, currently 23.8.1. I'm not sure 
exactly when it started, but when I finish an LL case and start 
preliminary factoring on a new case, it seems that I'm no longer running 
in background mode. The computer becomes very sluggish, and in order to 
get anything done, I have to put Prime95 down.

I'm running XP with Service Pack 2. Is there something I need to do to 
get the factoring done in background?
