I'm not sure exactly when it started, but when I finish an LL case and start preliminary factoring on a new case, it seems that I'm no longer running in background mode. The computer becomes very sluggish, and in order to get anything done, I have to put Prime95 down.
It's possible Prime95 *is* running in the background but the memory settings you've got are allowing the 'pre-LL' work (I can't remember what it's called) to take up enough of your machine's memory that foreground tasks are suffering for it. Go to Options/CPU and check the memory settings there. If the numbers you have are a large portion of your total RAM (especially if you don't have much), try decreasing them.
If memory serves, those settings have no effect once LL processing begins anyway...
Rick.
