power is not heat!

ok, let me clarify my declaration: all power consumed by digital electronics ends up as heat, except perhaps the photons emitted by the LEDs and the sounds emitted by the fans and hard disks (actually, photons end up as heat when they are absorbed by something, too, and I think sound energy ends up as heat when its absorbed). The amount of milliwattage that comes out of the output signals on a CPU chip is miniscule compared with the total power consumption, and even that ends up as heat in the inputs of the chips they are connected to.

and, again, a 3GHz P4 CPU chip consumes 100 watts or so.
