PDP-10's were ECL based machines and if I am not mistaken the failed VAX 9000 series (circa 1991) was too and that was the end of ECL (that I am aware of).

"First mainstream successful CMOS microprocessor I'm aware of was the RCA "COSMAC" 1801(?), circa 1975. "
Does that bring back memories! I built a COSMAC 1802 machine (I think 1802 is the correct model number) for a logic class straight out of a Popular Science article. I had to ask my dad for $40.00 to buy the chip IIRC.

If you have a stash of old magazines, keep an eye out for a copy of Electronics dated April 19 1965. The Intel corporation wants a copy bad - $10,000 reward!

That's a good price for an old magazine...
