No way, shape or form will an hp color LaserJet 2500 work with (Open)Solaris.
You can forget it. We've tried every incantation of lpadmin imaginable,
Solaris's PPD files, hp's PPD file, even the "hpijs" filters, generic PS... no
way!

The best we've been able to come up with is some of the applications, like
Star/OpenOffice to print half-decently, but with screwed up margins. Mozilla
regularly prints garbled output, and the margins are always screwed up, no
matter what one does.

I'm not sure if it's actually a crappy PS level 3 implementation in the
printer, or if the PS filter in Solaris is very poor, but we have determined
that Windows and OS X print just fine to the device using both PCL and PS
drivers.

But wait, there's more! We have had a support case open with Sun for the last 8
months about Solaris completely locking up during printing if the printer is
connected via the parallel cable directly to the print server.

And just when you think it couldn't get any worse, Solaris 10 6/06 doesn't even
recognize the parallel port on systems we've tested him on. /devices/isa/...lp
at 378:ecpp0 entry is missing in Solaris 10 6/06 on i86pc.
