3 new regulations concerning HIPAA standards were published on May 31 in the Federal Register. They are: 1. A final rule adopting a standard for a National Employer Identifier. This standard will be the Employer Identifier Number issued by the Internal Revenue Service. A proposed rule retracting the adoption of the NDC code as the standard code for drugs (except for retail pharmacy transactions, where it will stay).
