The very best file for a filmsetter is one that was scanned 1:1 and sharpened accordingly. I rarely have this option , yet would cringe to add any type of Gaussian blur to channels. Histograms are only indicators, certainly not the whole picture. Some (not all) people go overboard on histograms, in particular authors preferring the histogram to content. Images are just picture elements on a grid, well placed at the start, much removed at the end. Always finish the work correctly , then apply USM for the destination.
