Dear AndrewI am seeking a pointer as to where to find out in what order should ram be fitted in a 9600 Mac. With stability still a great issue on this box, it would seem that this needs to be checked. Unfortunately the Mac Bible which Francis Newman very kindle gave me does not appear to have the answers.Dear Richard,I've lost my Guru temporarily. But if you have 8 slots like the 8500/8600 then you need to add RAM in pairs slots A1/B1 A2/B2 etc. You can add odd ones but it slows the whole thing down. Something to do with interleaves I believe. Very many thanks indeed for your generosity in sparing time to help me with solving my Mac problems and for sending me the box of 'goodies' !
Since we spoke I have managed to get the Zip drive up and running and have been able to move image files from PC network to the Mac by this route...I will therefore not need to install the modem and will return this for another problem user! Is the SCSI card only suitable for PC use or can it be used for driving devices on the Mac?
