Dear Francis

It was really great to be able to welcome you here this afternoon in the
snowy mountains of Wales! Yes the hard drive always does show up on
the desk top ...Eventually, if that's what is meant by mounting !
When you were here it was being a real pig on starting....perhaps we
were not giving it enough time?

I was wondering why after a brief flurry of h drive activity there is
about one minute of no drive activity whatsoever ...this always happens.
Also at what stage in the start up procedure does the ram become a
consideration? And finally how does one alter/check the SCSI settings.
I am used to being able to observe and monitor the start up procedure on
a Win2K machine and go into the SCSI utilities to alter settings if
required...all very easy when you know how. There has got to be a way
of doing this with the Macs, but how anyone!

All the best

Richard
