Tony, have another go at him. While the S2 can capture images independently
of a computer, it also can be used tethered to a computer AND the images
taken from the computer if you use the image capture software. When used in
tethered mode, it does not capture images "independently" of a computer. The
computer, in effect, either can be used as a HDD to dump the images and/or
to control the camera.
If you use your DSLR to take location photos only (as your sig seems to
imply), then he may have a case. However, if you use it mainly in the
studio, as a lot of people seem to be doing, you should have a strong case
for a 100% write off.
