As this is off topic am I allowed to mention that the only known dealer to check chips before delivery is in California?
Am I also allowed to mention again that warrantees from Kodak and other manufacturers are different depending on where you live? US bought Kodak cameras have worldwide cover for US purchases while UK bought it is only Europe wide. Best bet seems to be; buy in California under a US resident name, have a free holiday for the difference to collect it and not worry where in the world you are when it breaks down. The best price for a 1Ds that would be available in the next week(s) was $7750. On top of that would be insurance and freight cost, which could amount to $250, so say $8000 for the camera. This equates to 4963. The shop in New York would only take money from a U.S. Credit card, which would have involved all sorts of tedious bank transfers. Then there are potential customs delays, etc. etc., not to mention paying a company a few thousand miles away a pile of money before you have the camera in your hand. Most importantly, the U.S. Warranty is worthless over here. The current price in London is 5400, and I think it's worth 400 to have a year's cover if something goes wrong, not to mention correcting backfocussing, cleaning the CCD etc. >> =============================================================== GO TO http://www.prodig.org for ~ GUIDELINES ~ un/SUBSCRIBING ~ ITEMS for SALE
