I was up for a job shooting a book for the beeb before christmas. It was
a nice project and then the copyright thing came along.

I said that I would agree to a limited license but not a buy out at the
rate which they were going to pay for the job - which sounded a lot, but
when you did a budget on it there was no profit in the job.

You need to be careful with the BBC. They produce  lot of work and they
know that it is a buyers market in the photo biz. AOP have had some run
ins with them as have many others. The line they used on me was that the
"project will be good for your reputation". I said "unfortunately I
can't exchange my reputation for food and clothes for my kids at M&S so
I'd just prefer the cash thanks."

The other guy got the gig...
