We just purchased the Nikon D100.It is around
6Mpixel. It gives a 17MB file, uncompressed. It is
very easy to download files into a computer via USB
cable. You can purchase an IBM one GIG card with it.
It can imbed Adobe RGB into the shots. It does a good
job auto ballancing for white light(color correcting
for tungton, florecent and other lighting conditions)
You can use your Nikon G or CPU lenses on it. It has
many other features I have not looked into yet.
There might be ways to sync it into a studio strobe
which I have not tried yet. That is very important if
you shoot with studio strobes. Some manufaturers say
it can not be done but there might be ways around
that.The body costs under $2000.
Kodak is supposedly coming up with 14n model any day
now, which in my opinion is the best for the
money($4000). If I am not mistaken it gives you a 40MB
file uncompressed.That's the biggest uncompressed
files size in 35mm SLR. It has a Nikon body also.
Cannon has a very good model EOS-1Ds on the market
now. It is 11Mpixel. Might be a bit pricy.
Look at http://www.dpreview.com/ for more info where
you can find out about products and the technology.
Thanks,
Faro
