Here's another problem - didn't raise it before because I thought it
might be OT. I was approached by the "Domain Registry of America"
just before my .com name came up for renewal, with an enticing offer
to switch registrars. I checked with another photographer who
suggested a quick google search, after which I dropped the idea very
quickly.
I can cope with the thought of cheap re-sellers being a bit iffy, but
now that the .com registry has been de-regulated, what guarantee is
there of proper behaviour?
This is now very worrying as my ISP is strongly suggesting that I
should to "migrate your domain from Verisign to MelbourneIT". No
compulsion right now, but a hint that in future they will only handle
dot com domains registered with Melbourne IT. Who might be an
excellent choice for all I know. But I felt I could trust Verisign (
maybe that's just too naive! ), and I don't know a thing about all
their new rivals, or the possible pitfalls. Are all the new boys and
girls okay? Or should I stick to Verisign? is there anywhere to go to
research all this?
thanks,
Andrew Wiard
