  The final gamma, if it is a 1.8 or 2.2 preference, is the result of
modifying the factory gamma to be one or the other via the CLUT made
available by the graphics board.  Whether or not the factory gamma is nearer
1.8 than 2.2 would need be investigated via manufacturers' specs, but I
daresay most are 2.3 ~ 2.5.
