The Stair interpolation ,going in 10% increments in PS, make it OK up
to 200% upsizing(3x), and it is an action you can do yourself or buy it
.

There are reports of D30 files upsized up to 100Mb, of course, all
depending on the quality of the original file.

Dear list,

I do think that shangaras points are extremely valid. As well are others
for the high res backs. I would like everyone to read jorge parras reply
to a post I made earlier.

Yes I do agree that the 22mp backs will produce well one sense of an ali
g word 'wicked man' images but there are uses do which everyone has not
the need for.

I am aware that Mike russell also bought an s2 for doing work, and well
if its good enough for him, it must be good enough for everyone else as
far as I am concerned, knowing his attention to technical excellence.

I think as jorge said

'Many Agencies (and many professionals in general) don't have a clue as
to how different is a file from camera than a file from scan, and of
course if you think of 6 MP file from a scanned 35 mm slide, you are
starting with a
small file that will almost never withstand interpolation/upsizing,
and
just a few manipulations before posterization occurs.'

I think it is a knowledge issue with the smaller bodied digital cameras,
as I sure anyone who has the new canon will testify to.

As Jorge said its up to many of us and the manufactorers to educate
people. As the end of the day with regards to libraries, they are
getting a known quantity in film, where as digital can be changed.

It's a hard one this as everyone, photographers, libraries, customers,
non commercial photographers etc are going to have to go up a steep
learning curve (it seems some can't be bothered).

Being part of the list has made me see that frank dicussions as we have
lead to positive results as we saw in the Barclays case.

A collective response from and ever growing force in the photographic
industry (because this list is) should be put together and forwarded.

I have often been dismissed by sales people at sales fairs and indeed
other photographic establishments. However when I begin to chat to them
and it comes out I am part of this list, their ears prick up and they
start to listen and often seem quite intimidated.

Just a few thoughts before we get snow.

cheers

Ian Reynolds
