A sentiment echoed by many others on this list.

For what ?

Anyways up , sorry not to have come back sooner regarding the camera stuff. The
concept of the idea and the execution of photography being more important than the kit
to capture the images is a sound one.

I've no doubt that smaller chips and prosumer cameras can produce some very emotive
images. I've absolutely no doubt that in the hands of the likes of William Curwen ,
even a l'espion sub Imb pixel camera could provide food for thought.

It's just that if you discard the art for a moment and look closely at some the more
esoteric and exotic demands of advertising photography , it's blindingly obvious that
some cameras just don't cut the mustard.

If 2000 buys digital Nirvana , how is it that Sinar/Lightphase/Imacon etc are
managing to sell 12000 to 25000 pound systems to photographers , who as a breed are
well known for their lack of willingness to spend there own dosh
unnecessarily.?......sorry , that should have read 'who are well known for there sharp
skills in ascertaining value for money'?

I've got a Nikon Coolpix 880. I didn't buy it , but that's another story. I've messed
about with it and had the good fortune to get an image off of it into IDEA (fix!!!! I
hear you all shout :-) ). But I ain't gonna be dumping the Sinars yet.

Still , all of this debate may be wasted. If you read the BJP you'll all know what
cr*p digital is.... :-)

Regards,

Bob Marchant.
