I was under the impression that ICE used within NikonScan has NO effect
on sharpness except where the dust was removed. So, if slides are
cleaned well, the few specks you might have missed should have very
limited impact on the result. Is this true? I hope so, because leaving
ICE at "normal" is so effective (one spot every 7 scans or so) that I
could not imagine scanning without it!

I am a pro photographer from Canada specializing in sky/weather subjects
for 30 years. I've published books, given lectures, chased storms, and
make about 50% of my living from stock sales, most editorial. I am a
recent user of Nikon 4000ED, in hopes of getting "up to speed"
digitally, and though proficient in computing generally, am still very
new to Photoshop. I've been reading on the list for about a month and
enjoy all your valuable insights!
