It sure is......most things are quite easy to learn as you go, often on the
spot. Colour Managenent (CM) is different, in that it only becomes clear
after quite a lot of thought, sometimes years before the 'lightbulb'
switches on. Then it lifts everything up to a new level of in built
competence.  You too, can grind your own pigments.

A lot of how CM is written about, and the way it is written about is an
impedement to its learning. Verbal definitions often fail to conjure up any
mental image of visual understanding. A colleague on mine sent me a
three-dimensional colour histogram of sRGB and RGB98 floating within LaB,
and years of puzzlement fell into place. I could now visualise all the
digital mechanics and theoretical structure of CM. All I had to do was
reverse engineer back from that moment of clarity and it became obvious as
day and night. It is all about eye and machines seeing the same colours.

I am glad to see obvious questions being asked, as with CM they are often
the most difficult and challenging to answer in words.
