Dear List,

Lyson have just announced the release of a bulk ink CIS system for the
new Epson 2100 at Focus on Imaging (230 + VAT with Inks at 15 + VAT
per 125ml bottle or 69.95 + VAT for 1 Litre bottles).

We (Marrutt Digital) are appearance testing two inksets for this printer at
present:

The first is a Lyson seven-channel pigment inkset, which to us appears to
limit the range of papers which can be used to fast-drying only, limits colour
gamut slightly, and exhibits a degree of metermerism.

The other (which we prefer) is a seven-channel Lyson Fotonic dye-based inkset,
which allows us to print on all the usual brands of media, profiles well to give a
wide colour gamut as well as excellent monochrome, no major metermerism, and
with the new Lyson Photogenix media coatings, yields an indoor longevity of 80 years.

The question is, which inkset does the list prefer? - Dye-based or Pigment?

Feedback from the show indicates that the vast majority of visitors preferred the dye-based
inks for their ability to print on all their usual favourite papers, but we are obviously
concerned that the general trend seems to favour pigment inks at present - please Help!

Best Wishes,
