Hello Larry This from mac help:
USB printers shared using Printer Sharing in Mac OS X are not visible to computers that use Mac OS 9. You can use Mac OS 9 Printer Sharing in the Classic environment to share a USB printer with Mac OS 9 users.
I have been able to print from a system 9 mac to an OSX one that has network printer sharing enabled in, and is running, classic.
