I've been lurking in the background, reading with interest. Perhaps the collective knowledge here can help. Here's the problem:
I want to go digital. My 35mm equipment is all Nikon - just a couple of tatty F801s but they refuse to die. I need to be able to capture at a round 3 - 5 fps, but not all the time. I would like to shoot at the highest resolution possible - the reasoning being that new technology constantly improves and therefore who knows what you'll be able to do with a digital 'negative' in future. Several of my regular sources of work still insist on transparencies and I'd like to provide proof that digital is good enough for A4 covers and A3 centre spread in a magazine. My questions: I read all the time about having to wait while RAW files are purged from the buffer - does that mean I am dreaming on my wish list above? My Nikon lenses are 24-50 F3.3 - 4.5, 70 - 210 and 400mm Sigma APO. Will they work on D100, D1X etc? Or am I best selling the lot and looking a Canon, given that I'll need a new wide angle and flash anyway? Finally, is there anywhere in the north of england that hires digital such as D100 - I'd gladly pay for a 48hr hire to get peace of mind. My head hurts even more now....
