I recently took a D1 image up to 255dpi at 20" x16" Originally shot as 2000pxx1312px at 72dpi rated 800 ISO. I used GF Print pro and 10% steps, as a final photographic print It looks good. It may be helped by the fact it is an image of a guitarist in concert so "odd" lighting effects may be hiding something that would show up in your situation.
